What I Wore: Pattern Play

Leopard print exists in my closet in countless forms – skirts, sweaters, shoes, tights, jewelry, scarves, etc. Since leopard can be considered a neutral, I’m willing to pair it with just about any other pattern at least once. This ikat skirt is no exception.

Here are a handful of ways I’ve worn this skirt before (it’s not the first time I’ve pattern mixed with it).

Secondhand Saturday: Rummage Sale Gems

I gave a little preview the other day of two new articles of clothing I acquired recently at a rummage sale. They just so happen to pair well, so I thought I should debut them together for Secondhand Saturday!

Finding clothes at the rummage sale was kind of…a gamble. It’s called a rummage sale for a reason – everything was lumped into big piles on tables, in no particular order. I was attracted to the blue color of the skirt, and admired the small, multicolored geometrical shapes in the pattern. I assumed I would need to alter the skirt when I bought it, however when I tried it on at home I was pleased with the fit. I have yet to decide if I’ll hem it up at all. I kind of like the midi length as is. The shirt needs no explanation – just a simple blue tube top.

Taking a cue from the colors in the skirt’s pattern, I accesorized with yellow and navy. You can’t go wrong with any combination of primary colors. Here are some of my favorite outfits created by using (almost) 100% primary colors.

What I Wore: Out To Brunch

This is an outfit I wore to a Sunday brunch with my family. I think wearing boots with a skirt is great for cooler summer mornings. They’re easily swapped out for flats or sandals later in the day when it gets hot, without needing to completely change.

I love how the leather belt and boots are the same exact cognac color, though they were separate purchases from two very different locations.

What I Wore: As Girly As It Gets

I think gray is such a classy, elegant color. It looks great on its own, as well as paired with any combination of colors. For this workday outfit, I paired my gray dress with my bright pink cardigan.

The sheer overlay of this dress is reminiscent of some of my costumes from my 10 years of dance lessons. The addition of some some faux pearls and sequined shoes makes me feel ultra-girly, and I love it! I hope my coworkers don’t if I bust out a pirouette or two. ;)

What I Wore: Sequins & Houndstooth

This is something I wore for a quick outing to the farmer’s market and an antique/vintage shop.

I tied a thrifted scarf as a headband, in the same fashion as I did for this outfit. I love how it tames the flyaways on humid days like these!
